How many times as a kid do you hear… “Did you brush your teeth? And even more so when you are wearing braces!” Hopefully, brushing and flossing your teeth is an ingrained daily habit no matter what your age for every member of the family.
Unfortunately, a New Survey finds that 3 out of 4 Parents Admit Their Kids Forget to Brush their Teeth.
The Ad Council and The Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives created new Public Service Ads (PSAs) for the Kids’ Healthy Mouths campaign. The new ads are funny adaptations of life lessons which stress that while parenting can be tricky at times, getting kids to brush for two minutes, twice a day can be easier than most other things parents will try to teach their children.
All dental organizations stress the importance of good dental hygiene, including brushing, flossing, eating a balanced, healthy diet and visiting the dentist for regular oral exams and cleanings. Since bacteria grows fast in the mouth, proactively staying on top of potential dental issues is much easier sooner than later.
At Porter Orthodontics we understand there are several factors that cause families to put off regular dental checkups, especially busy working moms and families with no dental insurance. We recommend all our families visit their general dentist on a regular basis to keep on top of their oral health, especially when wearing braces that easily collect food and breed bacteria that causes gum problems and tooth decay.
A smile, teeth, and breath are the first things friends, family, and co-workers notice when interacting with someone. Our goal is to educate our patients and their families of the importance of preserving their smile and dental health over the long haul as a high priority. Learning good brushing habits at an early age is the first step.
Your mouth is the gateway to your entire body. Keep it clean and have your general dentist check regularly to ensure all is up to speed for a lifetime of high performance.
