What does Thanksgiving mean in your home? Our team here at Porter Orthodontics realizes Thanksgiving can hold many meanings to many people. To us however Thanksgiving means being grateful and expressing gratitude for all the wonderful patients and families we have the opportunity and privilege to serve.
To most, Thanksgiving means a literal feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. It also brings with it a sense of togetherness and family. Sometimes Thanksgiving is the only holiday where we can spend time with family members who live far away. And, to others, the holiday means football and naps.
Obviously all of these things are wonderful and should be celebrated. But we also think that this day should be about gratitude.
1. Gratitude allows the celebration of the present moment.
2. Gratitude instills a feeling of happiness and joy
3. Grateful people are more resilient and likely to succeed.
4. Gratitude strengthens social ties and self-worth just like a beautiful smile
As Oprah Winfry states, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” So consider making yourself a gratitude list. Write down all of the things you are grateful for in your life. It could be as simple as a beautiful sunny day or as important as appreciating our families and country.
So feel happiness and joy this Holiday Season and get out and do something you will remember and appreciate. Spend some time with your family and friends. But above all be grateful for all you have been given and all you have earned.
All of us at Porter Orthodontics wish you a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING. For without you we would not be here. If you have any questions or need to schedule an appointment please contact our office.
