Smile by Dr. Porter

First Visit

At Porter Orthodontics, we are excited to welcome you during your first visit. Dr. Joseph Porter and our team look forward to discussing your orthodontic needs and potential treatment options.

Initial Examination and Diagnostic Records

Your first appointment will include a comprehensive examination and a discussion of possible treatment options. This 30-minute visit allows us to gain insight into your needs. We aim to maximize your time, and therefore, we may also reserve additional time following the exam to take diagnostic records, including X-rays, photos, and impressions. These records help us develop the best treatment plan for you and will take about one hour.

Questions to Address During Your First Visit

During your initial consultation, we will answer key questions to help you understand your treatment needs:

  • Can orthodontics address this condition?
  • Should treatment begin now, or is it best to wait?
  • What procedures will be used to correct the issue?
  • Will any permanent teeth need to be removed?
  • What is the expected length of treatment?
  • What will the cost of treatment be?
  • What payment options are available?

While we provide answers to these general questions, a more detailed treatment plan will be developed after reviewing the diagnostic records. This careful planning leads to superior results and patient satisfaction.

Follow-Up Consultation and Detailed Treatment Plan

After reviewing your records, we will schedule a follow-up consultation to discuss treatment options, time frames, and financial arrangements. During this appointment, we ensure that you have a full understanding of your treatment plan and can address any remaining questions.

Required Information for Your First Visit

To help us provide you with the most accurate treatment estimate, please bring the following to your first visit:

  • Your orthodontic insurance card, if applicable.
  • For transferring patients, any previous records and a signed transfer form from your previous orthodontist.

We look forward to helping you achieve a healthier, more confident smile!
